This is a sample of what we have planned:
All preliminary renderings can be found at: Our Project.
Stony Brook Cohousing is a member-designed and developed community composed of private residences—each with full kitchen, bathroom and other amenities—supplemented by extensive common facilities. Stony Brook Cohousing will be planned, owned and managed by the residents, generally people who are looking for a stronger sense of community and who prefer more interaction with their neighbors.
Common facilities will include a large kitchen and dining room where residents can share meals with the community, as well as host parties and events. Other facilities will include laundry and storage rooms on every floor, a living room, and guest quarters. We are also considering internet access, a library, a game room, a TV room, workshops or a music room as decided by members. Through design and shared social activities, cohousing facilitates interaction among neighbors. There are also economic and environmental benefits to sharing resources and space. While located in easy walking distance to transit, there will also be on-site parking for members.
As part of a commitment to the broader community, there will also be public facilities, via a separate entrance, for local groups to use.
